More Than Just Public or Private School: How to Find The Right Program For Your Kid

Your child’s education sets them up for the rest of their life, so you want to provide them with the best. You can choose between public school and private school, but you have their options, too. Learn your choices to help you make the best selection for your child.

Public School

About 90 percent of children in the United States attend public school. However, public schools receive funding based on taxes, meaning higher income areas get more funding. This leads to many public schools not getting proper funding. This leads to inadequate materials and teachers.

However, public schools do not charge tuition like private schools, making them an attractive option for people who don’t have the money for private school.

Private School

Private school comes with a high tuition, but it also provides a high end education. In fact, roughly 95 percent of students who graduate from private school go on to higher education. When the students get to college, they have a better foundation that will prepare them for the more challenging coursework and independent study.

Boarding School

Boarding schools, like Delphian School, are a type of private school that offers lodging and food and can be anywhere in the country. These schools put children in a challenging yet inspirational education that encourages their passions in academia, athletics, and the arts. They also create a sense of community that will stay with the child for the rest of their life. The idea is not only to teach the child history and math but also to teach them how to become a strong, capable adult.

Home School

If you don’t want to send your child away, homeschooling may be preferable. You can find both public and private programs that follow your state requirements. As the name suggests, your child will learn from home with you or a tutor. This option gives children the ability to work at their own pace and focus on the things that truly interest them.

The correct school for your child encourages their talents and pushes them to improve regularly. Talk to your child about their academic needs and interests when you’re deciding on the best type of education for them. If you have multiple children, you may even find that they fit a mix of different schools. However, any child can thrive with the right encouragement and passion, and that starts at home.
