After the announcement from the Medical Council India that it will introduce NEET undergraduate exams in the year 2012, many of the states, including Tamil Nadu, AP, Karnataka, and Gujarat very strongly opposed this change by stating that there was a major variation in the syllabus that is proposed by MCI and the state syllabus. Even though NEET 016 was held in Hindi as well as English languages, it has now been announced that the students can attempt the exam in Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Assamese, Gujarati and Bengali languages from the year 2017. The Indian Supreme court had quashed NEET for the admissions to all the dental and medical colleges in the month of July, 2013.
